I received my Alexander Signature Hybrid Mattress (medium firmness) in late January of 2020. By the first week of December (2020), my wife and I were starting to become dissatisfied with the feel of the mattress. There wasn't anything dramatically "wrong" with it -- no structural breaks, etc -- but it just didn't feel as good as it once did. Specifically, it seemed like "troughs" were forming underneath me from my 200+ pound frame sleeping on it. These were very shallow, and were not visible to the naked eye. But, they were there, and I could feel them.
When we would rotate the mattress (side to side), then the trough would be under my wife. So either way, not a good thing.
When we decided it was bad enough to do something about it (we're picky and aren't willing to "settle" for mediocre sleep), I reached out to Nest bedding. I only asked for a new comfort layer. After some questions, I was told they were willing to send me a whole new mattress.
I had to take pictures and send them in, which I happily did. After doing so, they sent me a whole new mattress at no charge to me. Technically, the "dip" wasn't big enough to meet the terms of the warranty, but you have to like a company that stands up for it's product!
Most likely, I just got a defective foam layer (the medium).
We requested a firm to try it out.
Notes:
- I like the firm better than the medium. It's not a big difference. The firmness of the medium is around a 6 out of 10, and the firm is about a 7 out of 10.
- It is a little disappointing that after only 10 months, the great initial feel was gone. That is outside the trial period, but again, they did replace it under the warranty, so you have to like a company that stands behind their product.
- We're about a month into sleeping on the firm and it's great. Time will tell if we have the same issue again in the next 10-12 months.

It's hard to see, but there is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch between the blue ruler and the yellow yardstick. This isn't big, but enough to be noticeable. This prompted the exchange. |
How is the bed now? I'm trying to decide if we should give this a go, or one of the others, or just go to a traditional mattress store like before. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's still great! (the firm). We're still sleeping on it almost 10 months later. Looks like they changed the name to "sparrow."

Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know. This sounded like an interesting one to try, but I was worried when you mentioned the first one breaking down so early. If we buy this one, I'll try to remember to use your link. I'm not sure how soon we will be buying one yet.
